Event Description

 The Great River Road Run is an amazing Alton, IL tradition, in it's 59th year!  There is a 10 mile run out and back on the scenic Great River Road, with the Mississippi river on one side and the beartiful bluffs on the other, you couldn't ask for a more scenic race route!  There is a chance at spotting an eagle soaring over head or resting in a tree high along the top of the bluffs!!

There is something for everyone, if 10 miles seems a little too far for you, we also offer a 2 mile version along the same beautiful course!!

This event is an amazing tradition to start with your family, come run the race and spend the rest of the day shopping and eating in the quiant and unique shops of downtown Alton!!

Event details and schedule

Packet pick up is race day morning 8:00am to 9:30am

There is plenty of parking all around the downtown area, where ever you park you will only be a few blocks from the start and finish line.

We run rain or shine, and it is the end of November, it could be very chilly, dress accordingly.

10 mile race starts at 10:00am

2 mile fun run/walk starts at 10:10am

Awards are handed out in the chute, medals to the top 50 men and women in the 2 mile fun run/walk, Male and female: 39 and under/Masters: 40 to 59/Supermasters 60 and over Top 50 awarded medals in the chute. / Supermaster Top 20 medals.  Plaques to first 3 male and female overall, first 3 master male (40+) and female (40+).
