Event Description
Thank you to the riders who joined us last year on Sunday October 8, 2017, for the 11th Annual AFFF Bike Ride. We appreciate the many kind comments and encouragement to host the event again next year, and we will!
As done before we will treat all bicycle riders to an old-fashioned "Pig Roast" following their rides, which is included in the event price. Please plan your ride accordingly however, as the Pig Roast will begin serving at 11:30 a.m. We hope you will join us on Sunday, October 14th 2018, come rain or shine, for this great event. We are looking forward to seeing you at the Richmond Township Fire Protection District Fire Station 14 for the 12th Annual Associated Firefighter's Fall Fifty Bike Ride, hosted by the Richmond Firefighter's Association. This ride features fantastic scenic routes through Northern Illinois into Southern Wisconsin from 20 miles up to 62 miles (100km). The metric century route has over 3,000 feet of climbing. If you like hills, you'll enjoy cycling throughout this route.
Routes are 62, 50, 36, 25, and 20 miles. The terrain can vary from flat to gently rolling with an occasional hill based on your chosen path.The 62-mile route has some BIG hills! Family rides are still encouraged to ride along the Prairie Trail (crushed limestone) which has an entrance right across the street from our Fire Station, and still provides great views of Autumn colors. All road routes have rest stops with essential snack and beverage options, as well as portable facilities for convenience. SAG Vehicle drivers will patrol the routes. On site bicycle support will be provided prior to your start courtesy of The Bike Haven (McHenry, IL).
Event details and schedule
Parking opens at 6:30 a.m. On site registration is from 7:00 a.m. to Noon. 50-mile riders should register by 8 a.m. if not pre-registered, and start by 11 am.
Long sleeve shirts will be back and are best ordered ahead of time with your registration. A limited number of shirts will be available the day of the ride, and sold based on first come first serve, so we reccomend buying in advance to guarantee your size and quantity. Long sleeves will be available for $15 for registrations received prior to the ride. Sizes Adult Small to Adult XL $15, XXL and XXXL $16.
