Event Description
Run where no marathon has gone before…through “The Petrified Forest National Park”. Through an exclusive partnership between the City of Holbrook and the National Park Service we are able to provide runners with this opportunity.
Your journey will take you past petrified wood that are millions of years old and through the majestic Painted Desert. Come run and experience one of the most unique marathons in the world.
Event details and schedule
The Petrified Forest Marathon will take place on October 22, 2016. The race will start at 7:15AM from the north end of the park and finish at the south end. You will park your cars at the south end and be bussed to the north end for the start of the race. The busses will load at 6:00AM from the South Parking Lot. Parking is limited so carpooling is encouraged.
The course has lots of small hills and has a net altitude loss of about 400 Feet from the start to the finish. Their will be 15 aid stations along the route. (See Map http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/461913732)
The weather this time of year has an average high of 69 and and average low of 37 so it is very comparable to the St. George Marathon so plan accordingly.
