Event Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU REGISTER:
You must be a US citizen, no green card holders, you will be entering a US military base and restrictions apply. Participants MUST be over the age of 13. By registering for this race, you are giving your consent to a federal background check. ONLY registered participants will be allowed to board the buses out to the SLF, NO spectators. Please arrive with your ID and running attire, any bags or personal belongings may be subject to search. If the race does not sell out, registration will close five days prior to the race, NO late registrations allowed.

8:00am
This will be the 3rd Annual 5K/10K event that takes place entirely on the Space Shuttle Landing Facility Runway.
This race will be capped and will sell out very very quickly!
The finisher medals are sure to be out of this world!
You will be able to see a couple plaques along the runway where the last flights came to a complete stop.
There is no refunds whatsoever. Event will happen rain or shine.
Event details and schedule
The event will be a 5K/10K where the races will both start at the same time. The 5k Runners will turn around at approximately 1.55 miles and the 10k runners will turn around at approximately 3.1 miles.
RUNNERS, GET READY TO BLAST OFF!
In partnership with Space Florida the third annual American Cancer Society Gateway to Space 5K/10K will take place on the iconic Shuttle Landing Facility. Join us on the runway with views of the VAB in the distance and keep your eyes open on the course for your chance to see landing marks from the shuttles of our past. Runners are encouraged to dress up as their favorite astronaut or space character! Random prizes will be given to our favorite “out of this world” participants! Registration will be caped for this one of a kind event so don’t hesitate, register NOW!
Please arrive at 6:00am to allow time to park, go through security and take a shuttle to the runway. This is an out and back course with water stops along the way. Race starts at 8:00am. Gateway to Space sold out in 2017 & 2018 so do not hesitate to register for this one of a kind race. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.
YOU MUST BE A US CITIZEN TO PARTICIPATE IN THE EVENT AS YOU WILL BE ENTERING A US MILITARY BASE. BY REGISTERING FOR THIS EVENT YOU ARE GIVING YOUR CONSENT TO A FULL BACK GROUND INVESTIGATION. AGAIN ALL MINORS MUST BE OVER AGE 13.
