Event Description

READ BEFORE ENTERING THE FROZEN SNOT!  The Frozen Snot will be held on February 15, 2020.  It will not be rescheduled to a different date due to inclement weather or hazardous driving conditions.  In the event that the Governor of Pennsylvania declares a State of Emergency (weather or otherwise) in CLINTON COUNTY, the Frozen Snot will be CANCELED for 2020.  If there is a state of emergency elsewhere, but not in Clinton County, the event will NOT be canceled.  Because of many factors, it is simply not possible to reschedule.  Entry fees will not be refunded, but rather go into the City of Lock Haven Park’s Department fund for watershed improvements for recreation.  In the event of cancellation, swag will be able to picked up for 15 days after February 15 at a location to be designated.  You may pick up swag for friends, but swag will not be mailed.

So what is The Frozen Snot? It is a 13.5-mile trek, trail run, hike, adventure race or what ever you want to call it. In 2015 we started to morph more toward an adventure race as not much of the course is all that runable. We have selected the worst that Bald Eagle Mountain provides and scheduled it during what is usually the coldest week of the year. It is aimed at the hardcore trail runner and hardy hiker. By hardcore we don't mean "elite" or necessarily fast, but rather a person that is ready for the most daunting 13.5-mile course we could devise in these parts. The day could be freezing rain on top of a foot of snow or it might just be a bracing, bright winter's day out on a hard and fast rocky surface.

A fair amount of the route is on established trails used by the Boulder Beast and Eagle Trek. Some of the route, though, travels ground that is really only passable (except to the diehard bushwacker) in the winter. The course will be well-marked, but not "manicured". Expect multiple stream crossings which may, or may not, be frozen. Check out the Course page for more details.
