Burgers & Beer has been a Universal Sole tradition for over 8 years! It started as a grass roots event from Universal Sole's Lakeview Running Store to bring people together for an easy fun run of 3 or 5 miles coupled with craft beer and burgers from various Lakeview neighborhood bars! It has always been about bringing the Chicago running community together for a once a month event where friends can catch up, folks can make new friends and everyone enjoys the company while heading out on a fun run in Chicago's historic Lakeview and Lincoln Park neighborhoods. With the growth and popularity of the Burgers & Beer Fun Runs, folks have asked if we were ever going to do an official Burgers & Beer race! Well, here we are, the 8th annual Burgers & Beer 5k is officially here on July 15th, 2019!
Race Beneficiary: Girls In The Game -- Girls In the Game knows that girls are strong. And that given the opportunity they’re capable of changing their lives and their communities. All they need is a chance. Unfortunately, research tells us that, compared to boys, they aren’t always given those opportunities. So in 1995, GIG founders set out to level the playing field for all girls. Over 20 years later, Girls in the Game has empowered more than 40,000 girls, helping them to grow up happy, healthy and strong. Learning through sports, health and leadership programs that it’s not about winning. It’s about making your voice heard. It’s about overcoming obstacles. Getting off the sidelines, and into the game! Sign Up for the B&B 5k Team Competition! This is easy! The Team/Group/Company/Club with the largest turnout for the July 15th, USOLE Burgers & Beer 5k will receive a special team barbecue hosted by Team Universal Sole! It is easy to get a team registered! When individually registering, you can instantly create a team and then any folks that sign up can designate that team as the one they are running with! Winning team will be announced on race day! Bring out your team, co-workers, etc and go for the win at the Team Competition at The USOLE Burgers & Beer 5k @ Soldier Field!
Need Training? The Burger To 5k Training Program: We are working with Coach Denise from Run For Change to have the first ever 5k To Burger Training Program for the USOLE Burgers & Beer 5k! Starting on TBD, folks can sign up and have a great training program with group runs to get ready for the race! We want everyone to get involved! Race Details:
- All participants registered will receive entry into the 5k and a custom Burgers & Beer 5k Premium Item (To be announced soon!). Everyone that finishes the B&B 5k gets a custom finishers medal (new design for 2019), a professionally catered burger (or veggie option) & a complimentary and delicious Odell Brewing Company Brew to wash it all down!
- USOLE Burgers & Beer 5k Registration Pricing:Option will be available for non-runners to purchase a Burger & Beer on-site @ Soldier Field.
- Until Feb 28th - $35.00 (Lowest Price!)
- Until April 1st - $38.00
- Until May 1st - $40.00
- Until June 1st - $43.00
- Until July 1st - $45.00
- After July 1st - $48.00
- Race Day July 15th - $50.00
- Course will be a flat, fast & fun out and back 5k chip timed official course starting @ Soldier Field, headed south on lakefront path to 31st and back.
- Race will begin @ 7pm! On-site check-in/registration will begin @ 5:00pm and close promptly @ 6:30pm! If checking in on-site, please bring your registration & ID
- If you are registering day of the race, the entry is $50.00 and can be paid by cash or credit card only. No discount codes can be used on race day registration. We advise pre-registering for best price and to use any discount codes available.
- Water and NUUN Hydration Drink at the Start/finish area! In addition, there will be (1) aid stations on course at the turnaround point.
- Our partners, The Fit Institute will be out and set up to talk with folks about health & wellness along with staff on site to talk injuries and treatment!
- Race day gear check will be next to the Universal Sole tent on-site @ Soldier Field.
- The Locker Drop will be on-site for folks wishing to have a little extra security for more the more valuable items you may have to travel with when you come out to the race.
- Clif Bars will be provided along with other goodies from all of our sponsors in the B&B 5k Vendor Village at Soldier Field!
- Parking Info: Soldier Field has plenty of pay parking lots.
- Public Transportation: The CTA has bus routes that stop at Soldier Field! Please visit www.transitchicago.com for more information.
- DIVVY has two bike stations right at Soldier Field.
