Event Description

The challenging, highly rewarding Litchfield Hills Triathlon allows athletes to enjoy the scenic beauty of New Hartford, CT and the surrounding area in this Olympic distance event.

Start with a 1500m swim in the crystal clear waters of famous West Hill Lake, among the cleanest fresh water lakes in Connecticut, followed by a 40K bike course with stunning mountain vistas and finish with a 10K run on rural back roads.

 

Paratriathletes and relay teams welcomed.

 

Olympic Triathlon & AquaBike

 

Swim Course: The swim is a 1500m course in the clean, clear waters of West Hill Lake, which has one of the highest water ratings in the state. Bring your shoes because there is a 1/4 mile uphill run to the bike transition!

Participants in the Aqua Bike competition will complete the event after the bike. Finish times are recorded as participants racks their bikes and make it to the Finish Line.  There are no relay team entries for the AquaBike.

Bike Course: Bike a beautiful loop course along back roads and wide shouldered main roads with a screaming downhill at the start and a rather painful uphill at the end. In between, the course rolls without any major up or downhills. The course measures 24.8 miles.

Out of transition turn right onto West Hill Rd – 2 miles.

Turn right onto Route 183 – 2.5 miles. 

Turn right onto Route 44 – 10 miles. 

Turn right onto Route 179 – 300 yards. 

Turn right onto Route 202 – 5 miles. 

Turn right onto Route 219 – 1 mile. 

Turn left onto Dings Rd – 0.5 miles. 

Turn right onto Maple Hollow Rd – 1 mile. 

Turn left on Bruning Rd – 2 miles mostly uphill. 

Turn left onto West Hill Rd – 0.8 miles. 

Turn right into Bike Finish and Transition at Brodie Park.

SAG vehicle on course.

Run Course: The 10K run course takes place completely in a rural neighborhood on quiet, well-shaded, rolling streets.. Fully stocked aid stations at every mile marker on the course with Hammer Nutrition products and more. 

 

Schedule of Events:

Friday - 12p - 8pm - Packet Pick Up at race site (not mandatory)

Saturday - 7:30am - Olympic Triathlon (Individuals and Relay Teams) & AquaBike                               

DIVISIONS & AWARDS:

  • Triathlon  - Top 3 Overall Male and Female; M/F 5 year age groups 19&U - 80+
  • Paratriathletes - Top 3 Overall Male and Female
  • AquaBike - Top 3 Overall Male and Female
  • Relay Teams - Top 3 Overall

 

  • Individualized certificates will be emailed to each winner in each category above.

POST RACE:

Finisher medals & Race T-shirts

Beer Zone supplied by Southern Tier Brewing Company (must be 21 years of age)

Post race BBQ provided by Wilson Endurance Sports.  

RULES:

All races are USAT sanctioned and all rules and regulations apply, and there will be no refunds for this event or bib transfers. Race is held Rain or Shine. It is the participants responsibility to know the rules for an event sanctioned by USA Triathlon. 

If not a current USAT member you will be required to purchase one day event coverage during registration.  $15 for Adults, $10 for 17 & Under.

There is NO refund for this event. However, with ADVANCE notice, you may defer to another Wilson Endurance Sports event or next years race. You must speak with Tonia Wilson directly via email at tonia@coachmarkwilson.comor 716-353-1288.
