Event Description
The Hand in Hand 5k event is hosted by Maplebrook School to raise funds for the Panichi Family Center for Communications and Learning through the Mid Hudson Regional Hospital Network. This boarding school, which serves young people with learning challenges, started the fundraiser on the Hudson Valley Rail Trail in Amenia more than 10 years ago and moved the location to the Walkway Over the Hudson to be closer to the families and special needs children served by the Panichi Center.
The Hand in Hand 5K is the first run of the season and incorporates the Walkway Over the Hudson in Poughkeepsie, NY, which is the longest footbridge in the World. You may go to www.walkway.org for directions and suggestions for parking. The course is USATF certified (#NY1419JG), flat, fast, and sanctioned for those of you that are competitive. The course record is 16:10 for men and 18:50 for women, but the Hand in Hand race is also a great event for those that are running their first 5K. The race begins on the Poughkeepsie side of the Walkway and proceeds over the bridge and back. The walk is non-competitive and begins immediately after the runners depart the start line. Refreshments are provided before and after the race. Register before 4/1/19 and be guaranteed a stay-dry event t-shirt. On-site registrations are welcome.
Registration begins at 8:00 AM and the Run/Walk at 9:30 AM.
