Girls Rock Ride with Spokesman Bicycles on Sunday, August 21st
Spokesman Bicycles in downtown Santa Cruz is excited to be our fabulous host and starting location for our next ride, Sunday, August 21! This month’s ride will be a Hawaiian Theme, so wear your best Hawaiian gear for this fun ride.
This ride will be open to ALL LEVELS. Please refer to our Ride Level descriptions on the Girls Rock website to determine which group you will be most comfortable riding with.
Spokesman will provide pre-ride coffee, fruit and BONK Bars prior to the ride while we mingle with our community of female cyclists.
Wade Hall, owner of Spokeman and expert bike fitter, will talk about the importance of bike fitting. And, we’ll be doing our usual raffle before we roll out.
Spokesman will also provide tasty post-ride beverages and nibbles (beer and appetizers!) so riders can linger and shop after.
They will offer riders 20% off in-store (excluding bikes and service).

In addition to our normal ride-level groups, we will also have TWO special sessions you can sign up for on a first-come, first-served basis:
MTB Maintenance Clinic:
Lincoln from Spokesman will be conducting a FREE Mountain Bike Maintenance Session followed by a short ride. This will be a 1-hour maintenance clinic followed by a shorter, fun, social-paced ride up Emma.
Professional Coaching Session:
Local coach Abby Hippely will be offering another professional 2-hour coaching session for a maximum of 6 people for $75 (cash please) per person. The clinic will focus on bike body mechanics, balance and cornering drills, front and rear wheel lifts and drops. Abby is a certified personal trainer and mountain bike skills coach with 15 years experience riding and racing at the pro level. She’s done it all, from XC to DH, Enduro and dirt-jumping.

Schedule
• 9 am – ride leader meeting
• 9 – 9:45 am – pre-ride mingling, coffee
• 9:45 - 10 am Announcements & Raffle
• 10 am -10:15 am organize into ride levels and roll out
• Post-Ride, riders can return to the shop to pick up their FREE Spokesman pint glass. Limited beer and apps will be available while you shop! Then join fellow riders for no-host gatherings at Hula’s or Lupelo next door.
Parking:
If you drive, most downtown parking lots are $5 all day. Sundays, Santa Cruz street parking downtown is free. Spokesman will provide a bike valet for those who ride to the start.
