Walk, Jog, Run or Race ... Everyone is Welcome
The trail begins in the field above the Children’s garden, swoops through the woodland garden,
then meanders along the Heritage Trail, emerging onto grassy fields, circling through Jesse Helms Park and returning to finish beside the greenhouse and teaching gardens.
The trail is a good endurance experience for first-timers and the ever challenged runner. Be ready for hills and fields that will ensure an adventure that keeps on giving to the very end! The 5K is timed by Vac and Dash.
After the race, please make plans to stay and enjoy the festivities at the Union County Heritage Festival,
hosted by the Union County Extension Master Gardeners.
Proceeds from the 2019 Wild Turkey 5K benefit the Carolina Waterfowl Rescue, a non-profit wildlife rescue organization located in Indian Trail, NC. CWR is run by federally-licensed migratory bird rehabilitators specializing in waterfowl, providing medical treatment and care to orphaned or injured wild birds and other animals. CWR is an all-volunteer group that donates their time, money and expertise to helping North Carolina's birds in need.
