Event Description

Turkey Trotters of all ages and abilities are welcome join us as we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Annual ADVICE 5K Turkey Trot!  This beloved community event is a NON-SANCTIONED 5K run/walk held annually on Thanksgiving Morning in Duck, NC.  All participants should be physically able to finish and be off the course within 60 minutes.

As is tradition, our INFAMOUS PUMPKIN "TROPHY PIES" are awarded to our First Female & Male (both Adult & Youth U10) Runners along with our First Walker. There are no other competitive awards or age group recognitions for our event. We're "old school" -- NOT professionally timed or chipped, with finish times only monitored until our "Pie Winners" cross the Finish Line!  The ADVICE 5K is all about FUN & PHILANTHROPY --  for our trotters, our volunteers, flocks of friends and families, and our entire community too -- and in 2020 we're creating a 25th anniversary celebration you won't want to miss!

Net proceeds from the ADVICE 5K help grow a permanent charitable endowment established in its name (the Annual ADVICE 5K Turkey Trot Fund) that is managed by the Outer Banks Community Foundation to assure that community health projects benefiting the Outer Banks will forever be funded. Since the endowment’s creation, the Annual ADVICE 5K Turkey Trot Fund has helped to fund grants to Outer Banks non-profits including the Hatteras Island Community Emergency Response Team, Interfaith Community Outreach, Community Care Clinic of Fare, OBX GO FAR, among others.  As our event has grown over 25 years, so has its capacity for doing long-lasting good for our community!
