Event Description

JOIN US for the 4th annual Independence Day 5k/10K!  This race is designed to celebrate America’s freedom and we are honored to add our Road Race to the 62th annual Cumming 4th of July Steam Engine parade. The streets of Cumming Georgia are lined with close to 30,000 parade spectators to see the historic collection of Steam Engine tractors and historic vehicles pass through downtown and across the square. Our 5k will run just ahead of the parade passing by the staged floats and steam engines ready to go, providing race participants great crowd support. Runners will finish close enough in time and location to easily stay for the parade.

COME CELEBRATE WITH US!

RACE PURPOSE (OUR CAUSE)

Our fundraising goals for 2019 will be to continue the work and bring the dream alive of Rob Hasse, who was working on the revitalization of the Mary Alice Park trail system.

Rob was part of the host Forsyth Central High School’s XC booster club, and was instrumental in making the 2014 all county XC meet possible at Mary Alice Park. They were able to clean up and repair enough of the trail network to produce a very successful meet, however a lot of work needs to be completed.  Unfortunately, Rob passed away suddenly in March of 2016 before the completion of this project. Now the torch has been passed to us. Rob’s goal was to have all the old trails clean and useable again for the public, and to create a much-needed training area for all the schools in the county.

Funds raised from this event be applied toward materials, labor and rental equipment needed to complete this project.
