Event Description

With the event turning 38 years old in 2020, the Sugarloaf Marathon is Maine’s oldest continuously run marathon, drawing hundreds of runners from all over the U.S. and Canada. Registration for the 2020 race will open on October 1, 2019 and will close on May 1, 2020 or when the event sells out. 

Despite the mountainous surrounding, Sugarloaf's course is widely known as a fast course. The final 16 miles of the course have an elevation loss of 980 feet. It is common for runners to have personal best times on this course. With the race course winding along the beautiful Carrabassett River, the Sugarloaf race course has one of the most beautiful scenic backdrops in New England. 

The Sugarloaf Marathon is an official qualifier for the Boston Marathon and USATF certified.
