Event Description
The Lunartic (Lunar-tic) 5k run/walk is a nighttime event on the eve of a full moon (or near full moon) along the beautiful shoreline of the Smithville Lake trails. The name was derived from the craziness of running under a full moon! This is a fun, family-friendly event. Because it does get very dark under the tree canopy, a headlamp or flashlight, or other blinky things, are recommended. The course is point-to-point beginning at the Smoke and Davey trailhead and ending at Sailboat Cove but DO NOT park at the start. There is ample parking at the finish and runners will be shuttled to the start via school bus. The last bus will leave for the starting line at 8:20pm.
Registration fee is $30 if registered before midnight August 20. $35 at packet pickup. T-shirts are only guaranteed through August 17. We will order a limited amount of extras but cannot guarantee sizing after this date. There will be no refunds due to weather.
Who does Lunartic 5K benefit?
Proceeds from this event benefit the Smithville High School cross country team to fund a larger and more competitive race during the season, which is not part of our regular schedule and therefore not funded by the school. This exposure to a much larger competitive field helps the student-athletes better prepare for post-season at our state meet. We appreciate your support! If you would like to make an extra donation to help the team, you will have an opportunity to do so at registration.

Packet Pickup
Packet pickup will be at Smithville High School Friday, August 21, 4-7pm and Saturday morning August 22, 8am-noon; or before the race at Sailboat Cove from 6-7:30 p.m. If you are pre-registered, you will also receive an email the week of the race that confirms your registration and provides additional details for race day.
Parking
Please park at Sailboat Cove. You will be shuttled to the start. A $6 park entry fee per vehicle is included in your race registration and can be picked up at the packet pickup location Friday evening or Saturday morning. This pass is good for entry to all areas of Smithville Lake all day August 22 only.
