Event Description

The “Fallen Heroes 5K Run/Walk” proceeds benefit the Elizabeth A. Loncki Scholarship Fund, which helps families send their children to St. Peter School. The fund is named in memory of Senior Airman Elizabeth A. Loncki, a graduate of St. Peter School. Elizabeth is a hometown hero from New Castle, DE and a true American hero who became the first woman from Delaware to die in combat in Iraq when the 23-year-old was killed by a car bomber on January 7, 2007, just 10 days before she was due to come home. The race helps keep Elizabeth’s memory alive and assists others who want to attend the same elementary school that helped educate this heroic woman.
