DESCRIPTION

Start Point:
Drew University, 36 Madison Ave. (Route 124) MadisonNJ  07940. You can also hop a NJ Transit train to Convent Station, Madison or Morristown Stations and cycle over.

Rides for all abilities. Scenic historic routes, rest stops and refreshments. Post-ride food and Expo.  A great chance to tour our area's incredible history … to show that bicycles belong— for recreation, transportation and health… and to raise money for cycling safety education and the local volunteer emergency squads vital to riders and our community.

Organized by the Morris Area Freewheelers Foundation. Supported by local cycle shops and other area merchants.

The Morris Area Freewheelers Bike Club provides over 150 volunteers each year supporting the Revolutionary Ramble. We recommend you join your local bike club to train for the Ramble. If you're in Northwest New Jersey, the Morris Area Freewheelers (www.mafw.org) has mapped over 600 cycling routes and conducts 1200 rides each year.

12-mile Family & Casual Tour (11:00 AM)

For newer cyclists and families. On bike paths and local roads. Stops for an optional tour of St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center. You’ll ride in a small group led by experienced Freewheeler cyclists. No training wheels or children’s trikes. Trailers OK.

25-mile tour (10:00 AM)

On flat to rolling terrain, with a few climbs (approximately 1,000 feet of elevation gain), you’ll ride through Revolutionary historic areas. Explores the Great Swamp and includes a mid-tour rest stop.

35-mile tour (9:30 AM)

Similar to the 25-mile tour, you’ll have a few more miles with an additional challenge (approximately 1,500 feet of elevation gain) and an additional rest stop.

50-mile and 65-mile tour (8:45 AM, 8:00 AM)

For more experienced riders, you’ll cycle to Far Hills and beyond, with scenic roads, some challenging climbs (50-mile has approximately 3,000 feet of elevation gain; 65-mile has approximately 4,500 feet of elevation gain) and multiple rest stops, including the Jockey Hollow area of Morristown National Historical Park where the Continental Army spent the worst winter of the Revolution.

70-mile Gravel tour (7:30 AM)

For experienced "gravel" riders, the Ramble is offering something new this year! We'll ride to Far Hills and on to some of the best dirt roads that Bedminster has to offer. After a second stop at the Far Hills rest stop, riders will join the century route for the return to Drew (and a well-deserved lunch!). The route has 3,400 feet of climbing and features about 15 miles of dirt/gravel roads. This tour is best suited to bikes with 28mm tires (or wider) and will feature some loose/irregular surfaces on the dirt/gravel sections, including on descents.

100-mile tour (7:00 AM)

For experienced and fit riders, you’ll enjoy a challenging ride with plenty of rest stops. There will be more rolling countryside, more hills (elevation gain approximately 6,000 feet), and a cruise across Schooley’s Mountain ridge with a rest stop at the park. You’ll also cycle along Hacklebarney State Park and through the quaint towns of Mountainville and Califon.
