You'll know you are on the home stretch when you reach The Strand. Take in the views of the sand and the surf and cool off with the Pacific Ocean breeze coming off of the best coast. Celebrate your finish right beside the iconic Manhattan Beach Pier.

BANDS a plenty along the course to keep you entertained!

Our run is special for many different reasons:

To our knowledge the 10K is the only race in the top 100 without a major corporate sponsor. The run was founded in 1978 by a group of local runners who wanted to have a race "in town." It has always been a partnership between the City of Manhattan Beach and the Race Committee. This partnership makes keeping the race true to its original concept possible — the race is a true community event.

Since the beginning of its existence, the race profits are directly returned to the community in the form of:

  • Various health & fitness enhancements to the recreation facilities of local schools & parks.
  • Scholarships to Manhattan Beach high school seniors.

Of recent those donations surpass $560,000!

We believe our t-shirts are the best ones out of any out there. Each year we excitedly await for the new artwork to be revealed. One thing you can always expect, a killer image of our beloved Manhattan Beach. We pride ourselves in that we have managed to keep advertising off of the shirts. The shirt isn't a billboard for sponsor logos, it's a work of art!

MOTIVATION T-Shirt!  Gotta make it to the finish line to get the gorgeous, ad-free race shirt that you'll get in the Expo area. In choice in long-sleeved or short sleeved.  Proud front emblem 'FINISHER!', and beautiful back image:

We have 2 special groups that we recognize:

  • P.I.E.R. - individuals who have participated in every race
  • Hall Of Fame - this group has participated in all races up to the 25th Annual Run.

Time limit for the course

Streets reopen to vehicular traffic on a rolling basis approximately at a 20-minute per mile pace.  Participants still on the course at this time will be required to move to the sidewalks and obey all traffic signals.   The Finish Line closes approximately 2 hours after the start of the race. Please note that participants who cross the Finish Line after 9:30 a.m. are not guaranteed a finish time.

We recommend being dropped off, riding your bike or street parking throughout the community east or south of the race course.  Please see the race course map for more information and note that streets on the course close at 6 a.m.  so you will not be able to 'cut through' the race course area after that time.
