Did you know that International Friendship Day is August 7, 2016?!?! What better way to celebrate than to run/walk the Friends Forever 5K in honor of the friends in our lives. Who is the PEANUT BUTTER to your JELLY?
"There is nothing on this earth more to be prized than true friendship."-Thomas Aquinas
To celebrate we are hosting a VIRTUAL 5K race, where you can choose to run (or walk) a 5K and dedicate to a friend in your life. You will get a Friends Forever 5K medal set and be able to give one of the medals to your friend! Better yet, get your friend to complete the 5K with you! We have 1,000 medal sets and they're already selling fast! Order NOW!
Along with celebrating BEST FRIENDS, we will also be donating at least 20% of each registration to Mike and Brooke Evans, two best friends that are working on starting their own family. They are dear friends to the staff here at Virtual Run Events and we look forward to being able to help make their dreams of becoming parents come true. Our goal is to raise $3,000! Here's their story and our opportunity to make a difference:
We are Mike and Brooke Evans from Orem, UT. We are trying to start our family, but recently found out we will have to use fertility treatments. This is a long and expensive process costing $25-30,000 upfront. We are trying to raise funds to help pay for this. We were able to put ourselves through school and now both work full time, with student loans to pay off. Mike will be returning to school this fall for his Masters degree. We are anxious to raise children and have a family. We love sports, camping, biking, hiking, skiing, having game nights and going on new adventures. We have strong family values and good family support and plan to continue to teach these core values to our children. We will provide a loving and safe home environment and will give each child opportunities to learn and grow. We are excited and nervous to start our fertility journey, and are forever grateful for your support. We are learning humility through this experience and plan to always pay it forward to others in need.
*We typically donate to charities with our events, but once or twice a year we like to hold an event to help individuals in need. We've been blessed to be able to help a family that had a 7 year old son with cancer pay their medical bills (they did not have insurance), we've helped a fellow runner that suffered a brain injury that nearly killed her and had more than $12,000 in medical bills and we've been able to help a woman re-model her home to make it ADA accessible because she had to get in a wheelchair due to several different health complications. If you would like to nominate an individual or family, please send us an email at email@example.com and tell us their story. We promise to read your email and see what we can do. Thanks!
What: This is a 5K virtual run (or walk) to celebrate the FRIENDS in our lives.
When: Complete your race any time in August. If you can do it on August 7 (the actual International Friendship Day) that would be even better! *Medals will start shipping out mid-July.
Where: You choose the course and you time yourself (you’ll report your finishing time to us).
Why: Because this is our way of celebrating National Friendship Day and to help raise funds for an amazing couple trying to raise funds for their fertility treatments.
COST: $24, which includes your medal set, two bibs and shipping. Plus, at least 20% of each registration will be donated to Brooke and Mike, two best friends, raising money to pay for fertility treatments to begin their family. If you are signing up to get a medal for your IR4 buddy, you can just choose the regular option, since you get both sides of the medals with that. If you want your buddy to have a medal set for themselves to be able to give half of their medal to someone else, then choose the IR4 registration option. If you choose the IR4 option, both sets will be mailed to YOU and you will be responsible for mailing your buddy's medal to them.
