San Mateo, CA, May 2, 2019 – The City of San Mateo will be a bit brighter on Sunday, June 9, 2019. The Rotary Club of San Mateo Sunrise will host the 4th Annual San Mateo Color 5K, a five-kilometer, an un-timed “fun” run in which participants are doused from head to toe in color. It is a community building fundraiser event filled with fun and excitement where people, of all ages and physical abilities, have a blast while raising money for Peninsula Family Service, the North Valley Community Foundation, the San Mateo/Foster City School District and the San Mateo Sunrise Rotary Foundation. The Title Sponsor for this year’s event is Dignity Health.
The San Mateo Color 5K will start at 10a.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2019. The 3.1 mile route will take participants through the scenic College of San Mateo campus.
“We’re happy to bring this event to San Mateo. It’s a great way to support good causes for the community and beyond,” said Michael Wong, San Mateo Color 5K Chair. “It should be a great weekend with a focus on health, fitness and family fun all while bettering the community.”
The coloring used throughout the event on participants is 100% natural and safe as it is non-toxic and non-irritating. The organizers use food-grade corn starch and food-grade coloring. Participants are encouraged to wear as much white as possible and be creative for a costume contest. No pets are allowed on the Color 5K walk/run course.
After finishing the run, participants will gather for a Color 5K Finale “Color Explosion” at the finish line.
Cost is $40 per person or $35 per team member or families (three or more). To register online for the Color event, go to https://raceroster.com/events/2019/21553/color-5k-san-mateo
Individuals and teams can also register the day of the event or pick up their event packets starting at 8:00 a.m. on June 9, 2019 at the College of San Mateo.
