About this Event

Miles for Midwives is a fun, family friendly, run/walk around Oakland's Lake Merritt. This event is sponsored by the California Nurse Midwives Association and the California Association of Midwives. It is a 5k stroller friendly run/walk open to the whole family.

Proceeds benefit the two sponsoring organizations in their mission to promote access to midwifery care for Californian families and improve maternal and infant health outcomes in our state. In addition to the run/walk, the event features a resource fair with vendors, community organizations, and healthcare providers.

The Course

The race will start at the amphitheater located behind the Oakland museum and Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center and proceed around the lake. The race will start at 800AM. Post race yoga/stretching will be led by a volunteer yoga instructor after the race. There will be prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd runner to finish, as well as other fun prizes in to be determined categories, last year included: first pregnant mama to finish, first family to finish etc.

The run will be timed and you will be able to access your final time, however chip timing will not be available this year.

Parking

Paid parking is available nearby. The cost is $5 on weekends.

Street parking is also available in the area.
