Event Description
Come give a tri a try! Join us as we celebrate the 18th annual Wilmington Family YMCA Kid’s Triathlon presented by Dimock, Weinberg and Cherry, DDS and Engineering Software Solutions. *NEW* this year, we've decided to extend the fun and make a weekend of it! We will be adding an Aquatot Splash & Dash on Friday and a Teen Triathlon on Sunday! Kids ages 3-18 are invited to join in on their age specific race at the Nir Family YMCA. The swimming will take place in the Y’s pool with the bike and run course being out and back in the Forest Hills neighborhood. With full event production by SetUp Events, the participants get the ultimate triathlon experience! All participants receive a finishers medal and tshirt with trophies awarded to the top 3 male and female in each age division.
1st event on Friday, August 16th
Aquatots Splash & Dash:
Ages 3-4
Distances: 25 yd swim and a 400 yd run
2nd event on Saturday, August 17th
Kids Triathlon
There are 4 different races based on age groups:
age 5-6: swim 25yd, bike 1 mile, run 0.5 mile
age 7-8: swim 50yd, bike 2 miles, run 0.5 mile
age 9-10: swim 100 yd, bike 2 miles, run 1 mile
age 11-13: swim 200 yd, bike 3 miles, run 2 miles
Your race begins at 8:00 AM with the 11-13 year olds, followed by the 9-10 year olds and so on. Awards will be presented shortly after the last runner finishes. Awards will be given to the top 3 males and females in each category. Family friendly activities will be available for spectators and finished participants.
3rd event on Sunday, August 18th
Teen Triathlon
Ages 14-18
all ages: 300 yd. swim, 4 mile bike, 2.5 mile run
Your race begins at 8:00 AM. Awards will be presented shortly after the last runner finishes. Awards will be given to the top 3 males and females in each category. Family friendly activities will be available for spectators and finished participants.
All proceeds benefit youth programs of the Nir Family YMCA to provide scholarships!
Registrations will be taken at packet pickup on Friday August 16th if space is available. NO RACE DAY REGISTRATIONS WILL BE TAKEN.
