Event Description

Come and run where the dinosaurs once roamed, and join us for our annual fundraiser, the Friends of Government Canyon's 15K/8K Recharge Run! Your entry fee includes a race t-shirt, sponsor coupons and swag, a well-marked course with one aid station on each course. After the race enjoy delicious post-race food and refreshments from our sponsors!!

The 15K/8K Recharge Run benefits the Friends of Government Canyon, a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization that raises funds and provides volunteer services to help maintain, preserve, and protect Government Canyon State Natural Area. PLEASE NOTE:  This race caps at 300 total participants. In the event of rain, and/or unexpected trail closures, the courses may be altered or ran on the roads of GCSNA. Sorry NO REFUNDS!

Important Notice: Due to potential impact to the Natural Area the race will cap at 300 runners. In the event of rain/trail closures the race will be held on the roads of GCSNA. Course CUTOFF is 11am.

Courses: 15k runs through the Backcountry trails. A challenging and scenic course with lots of hills and rocks. 

8k runs through the Frontcountry trails. An easy to moderate course that is great for beginners and walkers.

Saturday, November 2, 6:15-7:15am, at Government Canyon State Natural Area, Picnic Pavilion
Race Day Parking:

Parking: at Folks Middle School, 9855 Swayback Ranch Road. Shuttles will run from Folks M.S. to GCSNA between 6:15am and 11:30am. For more info see the Runner’s Shuttle section below.
