Event Description
There has been an outbreak on JBLM and you are one of few who have yet to catch the toxic virus that has transformed the community into flesh eating zombies. We need all who have not yet been infected to report to the quarantined containment area for safety, zombie defense skills, and the items necessary for survival. Individuals will be recognized for the following symptoms; Gruesome Victim- attacked by zombies, possibly infected with virus, tattered clothing, bruising of face and hands. We are actively seeking a Fierce Zombie Hunter who can take charge and lead the way. Individual possesses fearlessness, knowledge of zombies, equipment necessary for survival, and military-grade clothing. (Please no real weapons, any props must be stored on individual’s body or at the race hub for actual run)
All who attend will receive a t-shirt, finisher medal, opportunity for victim makeup, and entry into our giveaways

Runners should be present at least 1 hour prior to heat for check in and obtaining “lives”.
Civilians wishing to seek shelter on JBLM should have a valid approved form of Identification and register prior to 01 October 2016. ID’s accepted are Passport, Enhanced ID, or other listed form under the Real ID Act of 2005. For more information visit https://www.dhs.gov/real-id-public-faqs
Changes to the 2016 Zombie apocalypse include:
Location has been moved to the area surrounding the abandoned buildings on Lewis North. This area was used during the Ebola outbreak for returning service members from their missions in Africa. The PERFECT environment for our "outbreak" on the installation. (There are no real dangers with any viruses)
Lives have been revamped. You will get 1 life with your registration, you have opportunities to gain more lives, up to 3 total, by visiting our sponsors who graciously funded this outstanding event. Find yourself without any lives during the race? That's okay! We have a "DECON" tent located on the course for an opportunity to gain one more life.
Medals have been customized and overhauled. A 3 inch diameter circle with "JBLM Zombie Apocalypse, the outbreak is real and the infection is spreading" embedded in the custom die cast to match our theme of industrial outbreak. Ribbons will vary based upon your completion level. Complete the run with a flag, your ribbon will read " I Survived the Zombie Apocalypse", finish without any flags your ribbon will be red and read "INFECTED, DO NOT INCINERATE"
Bibs. As some of you may have already noticed I have been making efforts to create collectable bibs for your races. This year's Zombie Apocalypse bib is that of a "Zombie Hunting Permit" and can be found attached in this e-mail.
T-shirts have a new design concept. See attached for the new improved design.
Heats. We will have 3 heats 1800, 1830, 1900 to give a larger zombie to participant ratio for the feeling of an actual zombie apocalypse.
Photo opportunities. At the end of the final heat, we will bring all zombies back to the race hub to pose for pictures with the participants. This is not just a one on one photo opportunity, but a chance to get a custom photo with 10-15 zombies lurking behind you
Monster Dash. Because of the horror in our run, we have added a Monster Dash 1K for anyone who wishes to participate. Runners will run past friendly monsters who are handing out candy.
Participant makeup. We will have a few makeup artists at the event site for application of victim makeup. This is a free service, and direction has been given to the artists to provide a simplistic look of being infected.
Costume Contest. We will have a costume contest for the following categories. Best Zombie Hunter, Most infected participant, and we encourage all kids in the monster dash to show off their Halloween costumes ( prizes will not be given for monster dash, all kids are winners in our eyes! :))
