Energy gels will be placed at mile 6 for half marathon runners. If you are new to using gels, don’t overdo it! One per race is what’s recommended and is what is most effective! We’ve seen some rookies grab several and consume them all. Needless to say, they got just a bit sick and left their mark on various parts of the course!!

What is the elevation change for the Half Marathon and 5k?

The Half Marathon will experience a net elevation drop of approximately 900 feet. The 5k will experience a net elevation drop of approximately 100 feet. While the elevation charts on the course routes page will show an elevation gain of 121 feet for the Half Marathon and 16 feet for the 5k, these numbers are referring to TOTAL elevation gain, which means the sum of ALL uphill travel for the entire distance of the route including any small hills or gradual inclines.

Where should I park?

On race day, half marathon runners can park in the Zions Bank parking structure off of 100 N. University Ave. or in the parking lots and garages for the Utah County Government buildings on 100 S and 200 S. You can also possibly park in the Nuskin parking terrace.  Parking lots are also available to the west of the Post Office on Freedom Blvd. and 100 S. Do NOT park in the Post Office parking lot as they will tow your car. There is also plenty of street parking, however, please do NOT park along the west side of University Ave. as that is where you will be running! 5k runners will want to park near the 5k start line located at 3300 N. University Ave., Provo (by Jamestown Square). There will be a bus at the finish line to shuttle 5k runners back to their vehicles.

Are there any post-race medical attention/massage therapy and locations?

There will be medical support to cover minor medical issues at the Finish Line Compound and at most aid stations along the course. Each aid station will have communication with emergency medical services. We do our best to provide massage therapists at the Finish Line Compound to help relax & loosen up tight muscles. We are always on the look-out for companies/schools/businesses that provide this service to get in touch with us so we can partner with them at our events.

What kind of food/drinks are at the finish line?

There will be water and drinks for all participants. We will also have fruit and a delicious Magleby’s Fresh breakfast ready for you as you cross the finish line!

Will portable bathrooms be on the course?

Yes, at the Start and Finish Line Compound. The half marathon course will also have portable bathrooms located approximately every 3 miles along the course.

Can I run the courses without registering?

No. All runners without a Provo City Half Marathon or 5k bib will be directed off the course immediately.

Am I allowed to use my Portable Music Device during the race?

Yes!

Are there Timing Chips & Race Numbers?

All official entrants will receive a numbered bib with the timing chip attached to the bib. That’s right, no more putting them on your shoelaces or being held up at the finish line to wait for it to get clipped!! Just secure your runner bib and you are good to go!

If I get injured or for any other reason can’t run after I have registered, can I have my money refunded or can I change categories?

Once your registration has been accepted all fees are non-refundable, however, you have some options. You may transfer or “sell” your entry to another runner, you can transfer yourself to another Run13 event if you do so by May 1, 2020 – both for a transfer fee. If the price of registration has increased since the time you purchased it, the new runner will be required to pay that difference. If you decide to change categories or transfer your registration to another Run13 event of a higher price you must pay the difference in the registration price plus the transfer fee. If you change categories or transfer to a Run13 event of a lower price you will not receive a refund for the price difference and must still pay the transfer fee.

**Run13 is not responsible for the pricing you choose to sell your registration.**

What happens if there is bad weather?

A little rain won’t stop this race! However, if there are major weather warnings prior to the event, check the home page for updates and watch for an email.

In the event that severe weather does threaten the event, we have prepared some weather cancellation policies and guidelines. Runners’ safety is the most important thing and if any of the threatening weather conditions listed below are present the day of the event, the event may be delayed or canceled.  When weather conditions or other physical conditions present a danger to participants, race officials maintain the right to cancel the event.  Less threatening conditions may cause alterations of the course or the post-event festival to ensure participant, volunteer, and community safety.  Such conditions fall under the label “Acts of God,” and will not result in refunding of any race entry fees or future event credits.

The race may be canceled or delayed if any of the following weather conditions exist: Lightning Threat, Lightning Storm, Tornado Warning, Tornado Watch, Thunderstorm, “Heavy” Rain, other major weather condition.

The start of the event may be delayed one hour from the posted start time if any of the above-mentioned conditions exist. The event may then be canceled if any of the weather conditions persist: Tornado Warning, Tornado Watch or Thunderstorm.

The Race Director, in accordance with the city and the local law enforcement, has the authority to cancel the event. If weather conditions force cancellation of the event, no refunds can be provided, since funds were already spent in preparation for race day.

In the event of cancellation, we will still make arrangements for all runners to receive their race medal, shirt, etc.

If Event is canceled more than 24 hours prior to the start time: We will notify all participants by email. If Event is canceled less than 24 hours before the start time: We will notify all participants by email.  If Event is canceled during the actual event, on-site notification will be posted.
