Event Description

Work up an appetite on Thanksgiving morning! European-style cross country course on grass and dirt complete with hay-bales and water-jumps. Multi-loop for spectator viewing. The 5K has separate races for men and women. The 5K is part of The Running Shop SAR Grand Prix. The 1.5 mile fun run is co-ed.

Quality cotton T-shirts will be given to each runner/walker. Women's, men's and youth sizes offered.

Overall male and female winners and Master's male and female winners will receive a trophy and a pair of Brooks running shoes from The Running Shop. Age groups are: 10 and under, 11-13, 14-16, 17-19, 20-24, 5 year divisions through age 79, and 80 and over. First place age group awards include a trophy and a "turkey." Second place age group winner receive a medal and a pie. Third place winners receive a medal. Break the course record and win money! $50 is added to the record pot each year for men and for women. If the record isn't broken, the prize money rolls over to the next year. This year's course record pots are $400 for Women and $500 for Men. Women's course record is held by Tara Erdmann, set in 2011 at 17:08.2 and Men's course record is held by Craig Curley, set in 2009 at 14:54.1.

The 5K offers an optional team division. Each team will be made up of a minimum of 4 to a maximum of 7 participants of the same gender. The top 4 times of each team will be totaled for the best team times. No co-ed teams allowed. The top two men's teams and top two women's teams will win awards. Teams and team members must be registered by Tuesday, November 26, 6:00 pm. No team members may sign up race day. No teams may be formed on race day. Winners will be announced on SAR website as soon as results are confirmed.

Packet pick up will be held at The Running Shop on Saturday, November 23, from 10 am - 5 pm and Monday, November 25 through Wednesday, November 27, from 10 am - 6 pm. If signing up online 11/23-11/26, your packet will be ready for pick up the following day. Packet pick on race day will begin at 7 am at Ramada 10 at Reid Park.
