COVID-19 - EVENT POSTPONEMENT

Following the rapid evolution of the COVID-19 situation, our team has made the decision to all Harrisburg 5K and 10K events. We have concluded that hosting this year’s event at this time poses an undeniable risk to the public and we’re not willing to take that risk.
We appreciate the community’s patience during this time of a public health threat from COVID-19.
At this time, all Harrisburg 5K and 10K Events are tentative for the Fall. You may elect to remain registered, request a refund, or transfer your registration to the 2021 event.
Harrisburg YMCA, Harrisburg Parks & Recreation and the Southwest Cabarrus Rotary are partnering to present the 12th Annual Harrisburg 5K, Fun Run and Health Expo, and are offering the 10K run for the third year in a row! The goal of this joint effort is to promote recreation and local business in Harrisburg.
The Harrisburg 5K is a 3.1-mile course, the Harrisburg 10K is a 6.2-mile course and the Fun Run is a 1-mile course. All three events go through the beautiful Town of Harrisburg, starting and finishing at Harrisburg Town Hall. This is a closed course to ensure the safety of all participants. The Health Expo will be held from 8 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
The Harrisburg Health Expo, held in Veteran's Park behind Harrisburg Town Hall, offers a wide variety of health and wellness information from local hospitals, doctors, massage therapists, nutritionists, gyms and other health-related organizations. There are also free children's activities for kids to enjoy after the races.
WHERE DO THE FUNDS GO?
The Rotary Club of Southwest Cabarrus was the last rotary club founded in the
20th Century. Founded in December 1999, we are a continuously growing club of
approximately 20 members. The motto of Rotary International, a service organization
of over 1.2 million men and women worldwide is, “Service Above Self.” That is
our purpose globally and locally. The Southwest Cabarrus Rotary Club, which
meets each Tuesday at 11:45am at the Rocky River Golf Club, is dedicated to
serving needs such as Polio eradication, local youth development, global microloans,
and supporting Alzheimer’s research, among other causes. Our net proceeds
raised from the Harrisburg 5K events will directly support these needs.
The Cannon Memorial YMCA is a tax exempt, not-for-profit organization that
has served all of Cabarrus County and part of Rowan County since 1908. In December
2006, the Harrisburg Family YMCA joined the Cannon Memorial YMCA association as
the third branch of our service area in Cabarrus County. A portion of your
registration fee will assist the YMCA in providing programs and memberships to
those who could not afford to participate otherwise. The Cannon Memorial YMCA
depends on the financial contributions from individuals and corporations to
continue improving the quality of life for children in our community. Every child
deserves the chance to experience quality after school care, camp, sports, swimming
and other skill and character building activities.
