Event Description
Come join us for the 2019 The GOGO Goosetown Inaugural 5K WALK/RUN! The race is a benefit for the Golden Volunteer Fire Department. $10 from every Race Entry Fee of $30 - will go the Department. The Golden Volunteer Fire Dept. relies on donations from private sources to supplement the city allocation that they receive. Funding for the Golden Volunteer Fire Department falls short of what is needed for vital new equipment and training, necessary for these firefighters. We hope to help them with these needs! The GOGO Goosetown course begins and ends in the Historic Goosetown neighborhood of Golden, in front of the Original Loveland Hose Company Fire Station, currently home to the American Legion. The course is a moderate level course, travelling along the beautiful Clear creek path, heading West toward downtown Golden. Runners pass through Vanover Park, home to a large goose colony, and then cross over on a wooden bridge with gorgeous views to South Table and the foothiils. The Course continues west on the trail, passing through Parfet Park, and on past the Golden Hotel, the Golden History Park, School of Mines, Golden Library, Golden History Museum, Golden Fire Department, Golden Visitor Center, and then back to the finish line & the Goosetown Fall Festival, at 9th & East Streets. One of the course highlights comes compliments of the Golden Fire Department. Runners will start under a Large flag, hanging from the tower of one of Golden's Fire Trucks! The course will be handicap and stroller friendly - all crosswalks throughout the course have accessible ramps, with no steps. Stay & Play in Goosetown -post -race. You can enjoy delicious food from local vendors & food trucks, beverages including local craft beers, music and even a Classic Car show! There will truly be fun for all ages !
