Fit & Able is proud of our third year of running the Cary Greenways Half-marathon with 5K and 10K options. Choose your challenge! Run the trails you love but get timed! This race is capped so sign up soon! 

Participants have a 90-minute window (8:00 - 9:30 AM) during which to start the race of their choice and have until 12:00 PM to finish. The half-marathon turnaround point at North Cary Park closes at 10:00 AM. 

The Cary Greenways Half-marathon is part of Fit & Able's Free-for-All Race Series.

  • 7:00 - 10:00 AM - Check-in & Packet Pick-up
  • 8:00 - 9:00 AM - Half Open Start
  • 8:00 - 9:30 AM - 5K & 10K Open Start
  • 10:00 AM - Half Turnaround Closes 
  • 11:30 AM - Course Closes

Information

Race Location: Fred G. Bond Metro Park. - Kiwanis Shelter

Course Information: The course is on the Town of Cary's paved and natural greenways: conditions depend on the weather prior to the event. The start and finish are at the Kiwanis Shelter.  Restrooms are located at the Kiwanis Shelter, the Boat House, SK8/Godbold Park, and the pavilion at North Cary Park (half marathon turn around point).

Runners are advised to to follow all crossing lights and be aware of unmarked intersections. 

Parking: Please do not park at the Kiwanis Shelter but at the boat house and in the lots near ballfields 1, 2, 3, or 4. 

Race Start: The race is an open start on to the course to reduce participant impact on the greenways. You will cross a timing pad as you start and when you finish. You can start anytime between 8:00 AM and 9:30 AM. The half-way turnaround closes at 10:00 AM and the course closes at 11:30 AM. Remember a faster runner might start later than you!

Events: Everyone is welcome to participate! All participants will have chip-timed results that will be posted online. All Fit & Able Productions, Inc. events are inclusion events: anyone of any age, skill-level, or ability can participate in any race! USATF Rules: Dogs, bikes, and strollers are not allowed to participate in any event!

First Aid: First Aid will be available at the finish line.

Water Stations: Water fountains are located at the Kiwanis Shelter, the Boat House, SK8/Godbold Park and the pavilion at North Cary Park (half marathon turn around point).  There will be three water stations on the course: at the 5K, 10K, and Half turn around. Water is also available at the registration and refreshment area. The water stations are marked on the map.

Packet Pick-up: All participants must show a photo ID in order to pick up their race packets.  All participants must pick up their own race packet and sign the USATF waiver.  Minors must be with a guardian to pick up their race packet. Early packet pickup will be announced race week. 

Race Souvenirs: Cary Greenways Half-Marathon soft cotton shirt included with registration if registered by March 11th and finisher gift guaranteed if registered by March 1st.  First come first serve after that date.  Shirts are also available separately for $15. Awards not picked up at the event will be left at Omega Sports (Crossroad). 

Awards:  Prizes will be distributed after the last runner is in. Awards will not be mailed out - Top 3 Male/Female winners in the 5K, 10K, and Half-marathon. Awards are provided by Omega Sports - Crossroads Plaza. 

Registration

Online registration closes on March 28th at 9 PM. Cash and checks are accepted at packet pick-up and race day.

Fit & Able Productions is a nonprofit organization that has been supporting community and family fitness in Cary since 1997 through organizing creative events and training programs. We also support many programs, such as swim safety lessons for underprivileged children and adults, youth fitness programs, and health education run by our community partners including the Cary Family YMCA, Triangle Aquatic Center, and Town of Cary. Proceeds from our events that aren't designated to support other organizations go to support the event and other Fit & Able nonprofit activities.
