Event Description

On May 15, 2018 I started a weight loss mission.  I was type 2 diabetic and weighed 241 lbs at only 5'3".  And it was all because of these words " Jennifer you have to take control of your health.  No one can do it but you."  The person who told me that was and is one of my best friends, and that best friend was also dying of Glioblastoma Multiforme.  Because of her I am no longer a Type 2 Diabetic.  I've lost 90 lbs and am able to do more than I have in years, including participating in 5k's.  Ricki's words saved my life cause she knew she was losing hers.   Ricki left this world too soon at the age of 39 on Thanksgiving Day, 11-22-2018.  She left behind her husband Derek and their 5 young children.  In honor of Ricki's bravery and to keep her memory alive,  I have started this Fun Run.  All registration proceeds will go to the Texas Children's Hospital per Ricki's wishes.  T shirt sales will pay T Shirt business printing shirts.  Last day to order shirts will be November 1, 2019.   So please join me Saturday November 23, 2019 at 2pm for the first annual "Glioblastoma Sucks",  Ricki Bateman Memorial Fun Run.  I will be hosting the run/walk at Civitan Park in Muskogee for those that live locally.  But for those who live afar whose lives Ricki had touched, this will be set up as a virtual race so anyone from anywhere can participate.  All you have to do is complete the run/walk where you live in honor of Ricki!
