The 34th annual Newport-Mesa Spirit Run will take on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Fashion Island, Newport Beach. With 12 road racing events, a Family Walk, and a Toddler Trot, Spirit Run has something for every age, from toddlers to grandparents. Adult races include the 10k, 5k, 15k (10k + 5k, times combined and ranked), Elite Mile, Sub Elite Mile, and Open Mile. Youth races include the Toddler Trot, six separate 1/4 to 1-Mile races for age 4-19, and the Youth 5k for High School and younger.
Spirit Run allows you to double or triple your fun by offering you the opportunity to race multiple races and to be eligible to win medals and prizes in each one. Prizes include (1) a year's worth of pizza in the Adult 5k, 10k, and for ages 9-19 in the Youth 5k and Youth Mile races; (2) a Cash Prize Purse in the Elite and Sub Elite Mile; (3) a "burger and brew" for age 21 and older in the Open Mile; (4) certicates for massage in the 15k and Elite Mile; and (5) certificates for cookies for ages 4-8 in the 1/4 to 1-Mile races and Youth 5k. Youth finishers receive finishers medals.
In between the walking and racing events, participants and spectators enjoy a Youth & Fitness Expo with a delicious pancake breakfast, other food and beverages, live music, massage and shopping for adults, youth activities including a rock climbing wall, bungee trampoline, surf simulator, and more, health and fitness information, and more.
The net proceeds of this long standing community event benefit education and athletics in the Newport - Mesa Unified School District.
