EVENT OVERVIEW:
6 Mile & 10 Mile Saturday, January 11, 2020 9:00 AM At Dismal Swamp Canal Trail, Trail Start
10 Mile & 15 Mile Saturday, February 1, 2020 9:00 AM At Ft Monroe
12 Mile & 20 Mile Saturday, February 29, 2020 9:00 AM At Dismal Swamp Canal Trail, Trail Start
Race Courses:
Jan. 11th & February 29th begin and finish at the entrance to the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail, Trail Start Chesapeake, VA 23323 and will be an out & back. Start will be a chip start and all runners will start 9:00am. February 1, will be at Ft Monroe, Hampton VA 23651 and will be two or three 5-mile loops around the fort’s waterfronts. Finish line closure is based for each race date on a 15 minute per mile. Early starts for walkers may be arranged by the Striders Walking Committee at vmay4@cox.net.
After Race Parties:
Febuary 1 - Post Race Party with hot food and cold drinks with adult beverages at Paradise Ocean Club, 509 Fenwick Road, Fort Monroe 23651. This is the start/finish area.
January 11 and February 29 - Post Race Party with hot food and cold drinks with adult beverages at Big Woody’s Bar and Grill, 123 N. Battlefield Blvd. Chesapeake 23320.....A short distance away.
Directions:
Dismal Swamp Canal Trail:, Trail Start, Old Route 17 and George Washington Hwy, Chesapeake, VA 23323 just off Rt 17. Ft Monroe is located in Hampton at 490 Fenwick Dr., Ft Monroe, VA 23651 & is an open (non-military) venue.
Awards:
Runners who register for all three of the distance event series (6-10-12 Mile or 10-15-20 Mile) will receive a special premium.
Inclement Weather: The Race Director and the Tidewater Striders reserve the right to cancel or reschedule or adjust distances as needed in the interest of safety or access restrictions to the venue. No refunds can be given in the event of either re-scheduling or cancellation.
Optional Packet Pick-up & Late Registration at Running Etc. VB from 5:00PM to 7:00PM on the Fridays before each race
Packet Pick-up & Race day registration starts at 7:30 AM
