Event Description

What's more fun than a holiday race??  Racing the 3rd Annual Savage Family Turkey Trot 5k at Bug Light, on Thanksgiving morning !!!  This going to be a fun family event !!! This is the third annual run of the Turkey Trot to honor Nathan Savage. Nathan was an avid runner, biker, triathlete and family man.  He lost his life to a fatal heart attack on July 2, 2016.  This was just three weeks before he was set to compete in his first full Ironman event, and just months prior to his 40th birthday.  This year's event will fall on November 28th..  

The proceeds will stay local and be given to the Nathan Savage Memorial Fund, a fund created by the Savage Family with the South Portland Community Center that gives financial assistance to any child wanting to participate in one of their youth development programs. One of Nathan's dreams was to help kids get off the couch and get out there and be active and healthy and we thought this was the perfect way to honor his dream. So, prepare to have that extra helping at dinner, or that second ( or third) piece of pie and join us!!!   Run, walk, bring your friends, your family and maybe even your well behaved dog ( on leash, of course). Start your Thanksgiving day off  and support an amazing family and a great cause.
