Event Description
Race #2 of the 2019-2020 Season is the XTERRA Topanga Canyon 15k, 10k, and 5k trail runs!!
Traditionally held on Thanksgiving, we're getting an early start on being thankful.
Come race through open grasslands and live oaks forests with specatular views of the Pacific Ocean!! Located in the cliffs and canyons of the Santa Monica Mountains, Topanga State Park is the world's largest wildland within a major city, Los Angeles.
The 15k long course burns the quads and grinds up to Eagle Rock, taking in expansive views of the entire race Runners then drop down Garipito Trail for four miles of winding singletrack through the native chaparal. Back on fire roads for the tail end of the course, a few more climbs break up the crushing downhill stretch to the finish.
The 10k short course begins with 2 miles of classic Topanga singletrack on its way up to Eagle Rock. Get those mountaintop views while cruising across the red dirt mesa. The last half joins up with the 15k runners and promises a fast finish.
The 5k fun run winds it's way up a beautiful 2-mile singletrack leading the way for the 10k runners. Runners turn and finish alongside the 10k and 15k runners on the fire road back down to Trippet Ranch.
All three courses are professionally marked, staffed with excellent happy volunteers and medics, and supplied with Aid Stations serving Gatorade, water, and energy gels and bars.
Cheer on your friends as they finish, climb the podium in 5-year age group categories, eat all the Baja Fresh tacos you like, grab a beer in the Beer Garden (21+ only), drink some coffee, get a massage and enjoy the XTERRA racing scene. It's an incredible way to kick-off the Thanksgiving week with a fun morning in the mountains!
All participants get cool race shirts, sweet finisher medals, and a hot breakfast. Those 21 and older get two free beers. Everyone gets to have an AWESOME TIME ON THE TRAILS!!
