Event Description

The first Annual Cranksgiving Bike Ride & Food Drive for the Ocala Ritz Veterans Village will include a 7 mile round trip bicycle ride to two local stores (Aldi & Publix) to purchase nonperishable food items that the Ocala Ritz Veterans will use for their Thanksgiving dinner.

This is a fun event for the whole family and is NOT a bike race.  Every cyclist, Non-Riders and Volunteers that participate in this event is a WINNER for helping those Veterans get a food-filled Thanksgiving meal for the holiday

Event details and schedule

This ride is organized by local volunteers  for the sole purpose of supporting the Veterans at the Ocala Ritz Village.  Particpants for the 7 mile ride will gather for packet pick up and registration at 8:00 a.m. and depart to the stores at 9:00 a.m. The ride start and finish will be at The Candler Golf and Restaurant at 8139 SW 90th Terrace Road, Ocala, Fl 34481. A packet pick up, registration and a rider Release Form must be signed at the registration.
Participants are encouraged to purchase $20.00 worth of food between both stores. A Truck/Van will follow the cyclist to pick up their purchases so they don't have to carry them on their bike.  HELMETS ARE REQUIRED. NO EXCEPTIONS. Riders will be on bike paths and sidewalks for most of the way except where crossing intersections.  Prizes will be awarded for those who spend the most on their grocery purchases so KEEP YOUR PURCHASE RECEIPTS. Turn them in when you return for prizes for most purchased.

The Candler Club and Restaurant will have a special Cranksgiving menu for participants that want to have lunch on the patio while watching the awards.  (Cost not included in event registration) Parking is free.

Non riders can participate by dropping off food items at the registration table between the hours of 7:00 and 11:00 on the day of the event.  (Green beans cranberry sauce, yams, pumpkin pie mix, boxes of stuffing mix, mashed potatoes, bags of rice, onions, packets of gravy mix, stalks of celery and frozen turkeys.

In the event of rain, please drive your car to the stores for your purchases and then meet back at the start.
