Welcome to the registration page for the MCRRC Winter Half-Marathon Program!
The Winter Half-Marathon Program is designed for runners who are accustomed to running middle distances and who want to prepare for their first distance event or improve their past half marathon performance times. The program meets twice per week and does long runs as well as speed work and hills to get you ready!
The formal program runs for 10 weeks and welcomes new distance and experienced runners. We start our long runs at 8 miles and gradually building to prepare for a half marathon. We will be offering an optional and more informal pre-program build up and weekly group runs beginning on Sunday, December 8, 2019. The formal program will begin on January 5, 2020. It is important that runners have a weekly mileage base of 15-20 miles and are able to comfortably run 7 miles without stopping before the program begins.
Group workouts will be held twice a week. Sunday long runs will begin at 7:30am at various locations throughout the county. A schedule with locations will be provided however please understand that weather conditions may cause us to change Sunday long run locations from time to time. Our aim will always be to provide a safe location to conduct the run. Wednesday track workouts will begin @ 6:45 PM in Rockville, MD. We are still recruiting pace coaches for this year’s program and aim to have coaches available for runners doing long slow distance between 8 and 13 minutes per mile.
Full program details are available on the MCRRC website. MCRRC Membership is required for participation in this program. If you are not already a member, you will have the opportunity to join the club during the registration process.
