Event Description
Parkland Aquatic Club (PAAC) is a non-profit 501(c) competitive swim club located in Allentown, Pennsylvania with approximately 150 swimmers ranging from ages 6 to 18. We offer high-quality coaching and technique instruction for swimmers of all ages and abilities throughout the year. We provide children and young adults an opportunity to learn a life-long sport, beginning with a Learn to Swim program, while teaching them the value of hard work, goal setting, and accountability. In striving to compete and become champions in the water, we undergo a process that leads our athletes to become champions in life.
PAAC recognizes the need for educational programs to reduce incidences of drowning in the community by teaching children and their families how to stay safe in and around water. To help achieve our goal, PAAC, through a grant provided by the Kiwanis club of Allentown, partnered with The City of Allentown’s Department of Parks and Recreation to help educate the public with a program entitled Pool Proof. Our PAAC swimmers participate in the event by assisting Allentown lifeguards with various water-related activities, such as the basics of water safety, improvised rescue techniques, the importance of personal floatation devices, and learning to swim is the best safeguard against water-related injuries and drowning.
