Event Description
Due to coronavirus (COVID-19), we will be turning the 2020 BUG into a virtual run only. Our biggest priority is for the health and safety of all BUG Run families, participants, volunteers and community. It is our commitment to provide the safest environment as possible. While we look forward to seeing everyone at the BUG Run each year, we have made the decision to turn the 8th Annual Jadon's Hope BUG RUN into a virtual run. It is the safest and most responsible option.
Our BUG Run team is diligently working to change all registered participants to a virtual runner status. If you have not signed up but would still like to and contribute to the Jadon's Hope Foundation you are more than welcome to sign up as a virtual runner.
What does this mean for all participants in 2020? You have the option to run the 5K or 10K whenever and wherever you want! We will be giving you the chance to email us your times and post pictures during the virtual run dates beginning March 28 – April 8. We ask that if you would like to record your time you must send us a picture of your time using your Garmin watch or other time and distance recording device or app. We will post result after April 8th.
Here are a few other things we are working on, so please be on the lookout for more details coming soon:
💙 Drive-through packet pick-up option TBD. Please understand that we will not be mailing out run packets. We want you to get your shirt and swag.
💙 I Run For cards will still be available to run in honor of an SMA Warrior or Angel.
💙 10K participants will receive their finisher medal at packet pick-up.
💙 Collecting and recording times for placement medals. YES – we are still giving out placement medals for our 5K and 10K participants!!
💙 Virtual run times for placement medals will ONLY count for the 2020 BUG Run.

It is our goal to still make the Jadon’s Hope BUG Run a fun, family event, so we invite you to share and post your virtual run pictures and stories using the hashtag #2020BugRun on Facebook. As always, BUG Run proceeds benefit Jadon’s Hope Foundation. We are unable to reschedule this event to a live day or offer a refund.

The 8th Annual Jadon’s Hope Bug Run/Walk is on a quest to find a cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). Jadon, a 5th grade student at Rolling Ridge Elementary, has been living with SMA since he was born. Please join us as “We Run to End SMA” and support “The Bug” aka Jadon.
Jadon Burks; aka “The BUG” was diagnosed with the terminal disease Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) on his 2 month Birthday. The news was overwhelming (to say the least) and while Jadon’s parents, Tony and Kristin, felt hopeless they were surrounded by incredible people, given good information, and became a part of an amazing “SMA family”. While they battle this disease daily they hope to help others facing this seemingly devastating diagnosis. Jadon’s Hope was formed to make an impact in the fight against SMA and to help families “Dance in the Rain”.
Our Mission: Jadon’s Hope Foundation strives to promote educational awareness and fund research efforts for Spinal Muscular Atrophy, the #1 genetic killer of infants under the age of two, while also providing support for families affected by terminal childhood diseases.
