Event Description
The inaugural Rising Sun 5k Run/Walk will begin with a karate style warm up and kickoff at sunrise. The funds raised will benefit the Kick Start Foundation of Palm Beach which offers in helping at-risk and underprivileged children stay out of trouble, go to school and become productive students.
Through martial arts training, which teaches students discipline, respect, focus, courtesy and perseverance, Kick Start provides the students with the skills necessary for attaining goals, increased self-esteem and personal development. High standards, parental involvement and community support are all integral and crucial to the success of our program.
All participants will receive a karate themed finisher medal, a rising sun bandanna and swag bag. Finishers will also have the opportunity to celebrate their finish with black belt instructed board breaking! Awards will be given for the Top 3 Male & Female Overall and in each Age Group.
There will also be a Kids 100-yard dash for the little ones.
Packet Pickup
All participants will need to pick up their race bibs prior to heading to the Start Line. Please have your ID’s with you when picking up! Your timing chip will be affixed to the back of your bib. Below are the different options available for packet pick-up:
East West Okinawan Karate - 125-E Hypoluxo Rd, Lantana, FL 33462
- Wednesday, March 25th, 4pm to 7pm
- Thursday, March 26th, 4pm to 7pm
- Friday, March 27th, 4pm to 7pm
Race Day - Sunday, March 29th, 5:30am to 7am, 500 Greynolds Circle, Lantana, FL 33462
The Course
The fast and flat course will be through the residential neighborhood west of Lantana Town Hall. Runners will start at Lantana Town Hall, head north on Broadway to Ocean making a left hand turn down to 14th and snaking back through side streets to Broadway to finish at Lantana Town Hall. Volunteers will help direct runners along the route and for safety please use the available sidewalks rather than running on the street.
Parking
Main parking will be at the Finland House, 301 W Central Blvd, Lantana, FL 33462. Please do not park on the grass or on anyone’s private driveways.
Water Stops
There will be a water stop at approximately Mile 1 & 2 of the course. Additionally the Finish area will feature water and post-race refreshments.
