Event Description

The 1st annual Community Heritage Walk/Race takes place on historic Albany Stree in Brunswick, Georgia. It starts at the  historical Roxy Theatre and continues south past other historically cultural significant addresses for the African American community in Brunswick. Information for each location is posted along the route.  You finish the Walk/Race at the Inez Williams Park in the Dixville community. The event  includes a pre- introduction to our historical community organization and a post short community linvolvement at the park with music and vendors. It is being sponsored by the Brunswick African American Culture Center.
 

Event details and schedule

The event schedule is February 8,2020 and starts at 1601 Albany St Brunswick, GA.  Same day registration is available minus a  Tshirt. The 1k race will begin at 9:15 a.m the 1k walk will begin at 9:25 am The route will highlight historic location of African American history and culture. The route will be along one side of Albany Street heading south to the Dixville community by turning off Albany onto Prince St. Parking will be available in a designated lot between Albany and Wolfe Streets at the begining of the event. Upon arrival you will show registration receipt and pick up your Tshirt. We suggest you dress in layers appropriate for February weather. You will need to sign a waiver before the event. Some rides back to your car may be available after the event. The entire event should run from  begining to 12:30.
