The third annual Bread & Jam Dash 5K is a memorial event in honor of Diane Ihrke. This event begins and ends on Hillcrest's beautiful campus along the river. The route will follow the river and include a loop over Veteran's Memorial Bridge. This event is for serious runners as well as those interested in just walking and having lots of fun.
All funds raised with this event will go into a memorial fund in honor of Diane Ihrke. She passed away in March of 2017 leaving behind her two boys, Sam & Zeke. Diane has deep roots at Hillcrest that begin with her days in Bible college. She later returned to live in the buildling with her young boys and serve as the Dean of Women in the Girls Dorm. As her boys grew, she made it a priority to send them to school at Hillcrest. Her sense of conviction and deep value placed in providing a Christian education, with eternal significance for her boys required her to make many sacrifices to keep them in school at Hillcrest. Through hard work, faith, and the help of others she was able to do that. Now, in her honor, this race will raise funds for Sam and Zeke to give scholarship dollars away each year to other families who are required to make sacrifices in order to provide this Christian education for their students.
So join us for a great party, lots of fun, and helping Sam and Zeke continue to give in honor and remembrance of their mom, Diane K. Ihrke.
