Event Description

SAFETY NOTICE
During the race, runners must remain alert for the presence of emergency vehicles. At all times the eastbound (left) lane of the 7 Mile Bridge is OPEN FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLES. All runners should keep to the right of the center line of U.S. 1 for their own safety.

AID STATIONS
Six aid stations will be available along the course, providing water and wet sponges. Emergency assistance will be by race official or ham radio operator. Read the enclosed health care information carefully. This is important.

HEAT WARNING
All runners should be aware of the possible effects of hot weather on a distance runner. These include heat stroke, heat exhaustion and muscle cramps. The symptoms are:

a. Dizziness

b. Dry skin – no sweating

c. Redness

d. Nausea or cramps

e. Goose bumps on chest or arms

f.  Incoherent speech and thought

If you develop any of these symptoms, stop running and, if necessary, seek assistance.

NOTE: Average March/April temperatures range from a high of 82° F to a low of 73° F. Runners should be prepared for high humidity and temperatures.

RACE DAY
Limited free parking is available at Switlik Elementary, 3400 Overseas Hwy, Marathon.  Packet Pickup will be available at the Marathon Rec Center.  Buses will be available for Runners to board for transport to the start line

5:00 A.M  Marathon Rec Center, 810 33rd Street Gulf – Packet Pickup available, ID which matches registration information is required

5:00 A.M  Buses available to take runners from parking area to Start Line

6:30 A.M  Last bus leaves Switlik School for Start Line

6:45 A.M  7 Mile Bridge closes to all traffic.  Buses with runners leave Switlik for drop off at race start on East side of Bridge

7:10 A.M  Wheelchair Start

7:20 A.M  Race Begins

8:05 – 8:50 A.M  Buses will leave the start at 8:25. Runners still on the bridge as the buses approach will be picked up so the bridge can open at 9:00 A.M. (no exceptions)

9:00 A.M  Bridge Reopens and the first group of buses with runners leave the West side of Bridge to return to Switlik Elementary

You must pick up your own number and present a photo ID (no exceptions).  If you registered early as a Monroe County, FL resident you must present a photo ID that matches the address you used when you registered (no exceptions).  NO REFUNDS

RACE TIME
T.B.D., March 28, 2020

ENTRY FEE
$75.00, NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE for any reason. All proceeds go to children’s organizations. There is no rain date or other postponements due to weather or for any other reason mentioned in the Waiver of Liability.

PARKING AND TRAFFIC INFORMATION
Limited free parking is available at Switlik Elementary, 3400 Overseas Hwy between 5:00am and 6:30am.  Packet Pickup will be available at the Marathon Rec Center.  Buses will be available for Runners to board for transport to the start line. Runners are encouraged to carpool or to park elsewhere. Please allow extra time as the bridge will close precisely at 6:45 A.M. and the run will begin at 7:20 A.M. NO PARKING is available at the finish line.

The bridge will be closed to all except emergency vehicles at 6:45 A.M. and will not reopen until 9:00 A.M.

Buses will be provided at the finish to transport runners back to the start after the bridge reopens at 9:00 AM.

For safety – you must wait for the bus. Overloaded vehicles will be stopped.

RUNNERS FROM KEY WEST must be across the bridge to the start line on Knight’s Key by 6:30 a.m. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Tune in to 104.1 FM, US -1 RADIO to listen to a special commercial-free music mix broadcast during the race. 

RESTRICTED ITEMS
NO CRANK WHEELCHAIRS, ROLLER BLADES, ROLLERSKATES, SKATE BOARDS, BIKES, BABY STROLL­ERS OR PETS WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE COURSE.

NUMBER PICK-UP
Numbers and T-shirts will be available for pick-up the night before the race, Friday, March 27, 2020, from 6-9pm at the Marathon Rec Center located at 810 33rd Street Gulf and before the start of the race, Saturday, March 28, from 5:00 – 6:30am at the Marathon Rec Center. YOU MUST PICK UP YOUR OWN NUMBER AND PRESENT PHOTO IDENTIFICATION that matches the address you used when registering, along with your confirmation receipt which will be e-mailed to you. Get your numbers early because the race will start on time. RUNNER’S NUMBER MUST BE PINNED ON FRONT AND BE VISIBLE. DO NOT REMOVE the B Tag from the back of the race number. These two tags must remain on the back of the race number in order to be timed and scored. Do not FOLD or BEND these timing tags.

SCORING
This race is being timed with the State of the Art Chrono Track Timing System. Each participant will have their timing B tag placed on the back of their bib number. DO NOT REMOVE or bend this B tag. On race day, runners are asked to pin their race number to the front of their t-Shirt ONLY. If possible, please do not pin it to running shorts.  Each participant will have two timing B tags on the back of the race number which will record start and finish time.  Make sure these tags are not folded, bent, or removed from the race number. Once taken off it cannot be placed on the  bib again and expected to work. For further information:   www.splitsecondtiming.com

SPLIT TIMES
 Splits will be given at 5K mile and at the 10K mark..

REFRESHMENTS
There will be plenty of cold soda, beer and water after the race.

DIVISIONS
Top 3 male/female overall winners, M/F overall Master, Grand Master, Senior Grand Master plus age division winners, 3 deep. Note: Overall winners and Master divisions are not eligible for age group awards. Age groups include for Men and Women: 12 and under, 13-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80 & over. Wheelchair Division 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

AWARDS
Awards will be presented to the top overall winners, top overall Master, Grand Master, Senior Grand Master and the top three in each age division. Awards ceremony will be immediately following the race at the shore of 33rd Street Gulf. You must be present to claim your award.
