Event Description

Kara's Mutt Strutt 5k Run/Walk

A race to honor Kara Goheen, A true champion of all four legged friends. Proceeds from this event will go to the Karah Goheen's Friends and Furballs Fund, that will be used to keep her Dog Days Downtown Festival going, along with other "pet" projects that benefit Middletown animals. 

This race has gone to the dogs!

All awards will be reserved for our four legged friends. First through Third place winners in two weight divisions, under 50 lbs and over 50 lbs. All four legged participants will receive an official participation award!

Official race shirts will be for the humans. $15 per shirt, Please sign up before April 13th to guarantee your shirt! (Kara personally designed these shirts for last years event, to honor her we are keeping the design this year)

*All dogs must be on a leash, must be friendly with other dogs, vaccinated, and not in heat.

-9:00AM Race day packet pick-up

-10AM first wave begins

**Due to changes and precautions we must take during the pandemic we will have a wave start this year. When you register you pick a wave that will determine the time you start the race. Waves will have no more than 10 participants and will take off every 5 minutes.

We ask that after you pick up your racing chip you stay in or near your car until it is almost time for your wave to begin. (Still be sure to give yourself enough time to pick up and attach your chip) This will help us to keep all participants socially distant.

Live results will be posted throughout the event and winning pups will receive their medal in the mail! There will be a facebook live award ceremony announcing the pups who won gold!

Details on our Covid safety plan is listed below.

5k Covid safety plan:

-There will be no race day sign ups, online registration only. 

-After registration has closed, runners will receive a specific start time and be asked not to show up until right before that time. (Still be sure to give yourself enough time to pick up and attach your chip)

-We will stagger starting times to limit 10 people/pups per heat, spaced 6 ft apart, leaving every 5-10 minutes. This will ensure space between participants and reduce the amount of congregating before the event. Once runners cross the finish line, they will be asked to promptly depart from the event location so as not to congregate afterward.

-We will provide sanitizer at the beginning, and end of the race, and remind everyone to wear a mask until on the course.

-All staff and volunteers will wear masks and gloves the entire time, and maintain a distance of 6 ft from each other and registrants. Any water distributed will be in factory-sealed, single-use bottles and picked up by the runner themself.
