Event Description

The Brady Heart Foundation 5k and 1 mile run will be held in the perfect cool mornings of February in the spectacular city of Las Vegas, NV. 5k and 1 mile participants will start in Sunset Park and will run a designated loop inside the park. Sunset Park is a beautiful spot that is quiet and peaceful in the bustling city or Las Vegas. In the last few years the city of Las Vegas added a fantastic trail system within Sunset Park and it is very excting that we have the privilege to make great use of the trails.

Runners will start and finish in the same spot so there is no need to worry about transportation from the starting line to the finish line.  The course will be marked to limit the amount of runners that may get lost along the way.  The trail system is located on the south end of the park and we will have our banners out to help participants find where we are located.

There will be a 75 minute time limit for the 5k. That gives plenty of time for walkers. No one will be removed from the corse. That means if it takes you longer that's ok. We will be holding awards for the first place male and female finisher 60 minuntes after start time. There will be no prize for any first place finishers of the 1 mile fun walk.  Only the first male and female finisher for the 5k will be receiving a finisher prize.

Come enjoy the scenery, beautiful path, and most importantly do it for a great cause.

Event details and schedule

There will be same day registration. We recommend that you come 90 minutes before start time to ensure that you will be registered into the system and will be issued a bib number.  If you register after January 25,2017 we cannot gaurantee that you will recieve a t-shirt.  That means if you register on the event day we cannot gaurantee that you will receive an awesome cool t-shirt, But you will still have a great time running with the awesome people! No worries though you're super awesome for choosing to spend your Saturday morning with us and you will still recieve a goodie bag!

Runners for the 5k and 1M will start in Sunset park and run along the marked path per their particular race event. 5k runners will head west on the path and 1M runners will run east along the.  We have been given permission to run in the park and on the path however this is a public park and the course will not be closed to the public. It is important that runners be kind and courteous to visitors to the park and those running/walking on the pathways.

There will be 1 water station for those that are participating in the 5k run. It will be placed near mile 1.5.  There will also be water available at the finish line.  It is important that you hydrate before, during and after the race. If you are in need of water while you run you should consider carrying a water bottle or having some device to carry your water like a running belt.  The Brady Heart Foundation is not resposible to provide water beyond the water station and finish line so please be sure to hydrate properly as.

There will be no water stations provided during the 1M course. So please plan accordingly.

Strollers are welcome on both courses. We ask that those that are running the 5k with a stroller line up toward the back of the pack.

Parking will be on a first come fiirst served basis.  There will be no specified or marked parking areas. Sunset Park is a public park we are required to obey all traffic laws. Parking will be best on the south end of the park just south of the lake. There are 2 parking lots that are located there. There is also parking located near the baseball fields.

You can wear whatever you feel is comfortable. We recommend that you wear comfortable and cool active wear designed for running.  Please dress according to the winter weather. Please know that running naked is strictly prohibited. Not only is it not pretty to look at but its inconsioderate and against the law.  If you are found running naked you will be removed from the course.  So please DON'T DO IT!!

DON'T FORGET YOUR SHOES! It happens people. We reccomend that you wear regular running shoes trail shoes are not required. But do what you want it's your feet! You can check in 1 hour before start time but we recommend that you pick up your packet and check in the night before. This will help with the ease of the event for our volunteers and for you. This will also ensure our runners have a smoother and more pleasant experience. But we understand that sometimes that just doesn't work out for everyone. Don't be discouraged come when you can but don't be late on race day! If you register on the day of the race you MUST check in no later than 8:45 am to secure a spot to run in either event.

1 mile start 9:10 am

Awards 10:00 am for first male and female to cross the finish line for the 5k

The 5k race will be timed but it will not be bib or chipped timed.  The only racers that will get an official time will be the first male and first female runner to cross the finish line. We will do our best to write down and keep times of all runners crossing the finish line. We will not have the race  professionally timed this saves us a big expense and that means there are more funds that can go to the women and their families that are in need. It also means we can hold more and better events.  We apprieciate your understanding that not everyone will have an official time or place.  If you would like to be timed you are welcome to use your own stop watch, gps device, gps watch or other electronic device.  We will give runners 75 minutes to complete the race before we shut the clock down. That is plenty of time to walk. And walkers are welcome!

The 1M race will not be timed. Awards for the 5k will be given at 10:00 am. Raffel drawings will follow after at 10:15. The clock will be shutdown 75 min after the the start of the 5k.
