Event Description

Abandoned cemeteries, mass graves, decommissioned military buildings, what better way to spend your Halloween? Governors Island has a long and secretive history as a military base in the New York Harbor. Don’t believe us? Come see for yourself!  Ferries run all day long so you can explore the island after you’re race. Just don’t miss the last boat back, or we’ll be telling your story next year...

Please be aware that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all aspects of this race are extremely subject to change.

Event details and schedule

COVID-19

COVID-19 has changed many things about our events. Prior to the race you will receive details on exact procedures for this event. The following are some of the procedures you will likely have to follow:

  • No guests are allowed; only registered participants will be allowed to enter the race site.
  • In order to enter, your bib must be pinned on. You must wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth or a face covering during the event; the mask must also be worn while running when you are unable to maintain social distancing.
  • Upon entry to the race site, a medical professional will take and record your temperature.
  • To avoid crowding, you will need to show up and race within a narrow window determined a few days before the event.
  • You must show up on time for your designated wave.
  • You must leave immediately after completing your race.
  • Running in a group of two or more is not permitted.
  • If you have experienced symptoms of COVID-19 or tested positive in the fourteen (14) days prior to the event, you may not attend the event.
  • If you test positive within the fourteen days following the event, you must email theteam@nycruns.com so that we may notify staff and participants as necessary.
