Event Description
Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Marathon & 1/2 is set to return Sunday, January 17, 2016. The event, back for its 13th year, takes runners on a scenic tour of Phoenix, Tempe and Scottsdale. Registration and race week information is available at runrocknroll.com/arizona.
“This year was bigger than ever with two days of running and two headliners,” said Kevin Buffalino, Event Manager. “We have our participants to thank for a successful race and the Arizona community for welcoming us back year after year. We look forward to putting on another world class event in 2016.”
This year the event introduced two days of racing with the Rock ‘n’ Roll 5k on Saturday, which gave participants the opportunity to earn a special Remix Challenge medal in addition to each individual finisher medal. In 2016 the Rock ‘n’ Roll 5k will return allowing participants to once again complete the Remix Challenge. Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona also features a 10k and relay on Sunday.
The event will once again feature two different start lines, with marathoners starting in Downtown Phoenix at CityScape and the half-marathon, relay and 10k runners on University Dr. in Tempe. All races will finish on Mill Avenue and Rio Salado Parkway at Tempe Beach Park.
Live bands, cheerleaders and thousands of spectators will help motivate runners to the finish line. Upon finishing, participants are invited to relax with family and friends for a special post race concert.
Race weekend will kick off with a two-day Health and Fitness Expo at Phoenix Convention Center, featuring more than one hundred fitness retailers, exhibits and interactive clinics on Friday, January 15 and Saturday, January 16.
