Event Description

Whether you say tom-AY-to or tom-AH-to, the Margaret Maddox Family YMCA invites you to experience a 5K and Kids Fun Run 1K you won’t soon forget!

Join us in the heart of East Nashville on Aug. 8 and come in your best tomato-themed outfit for a family-friendly event with true local flavor.

In addition to the 5K, there will be a Kids Fun Run for children ages 12 and under immediately before the main race.

Event details and schedule

  • Pre-Packet Pickup: Friday, Aug. 7 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Margaret Maddox Y.
  • Race Day Packet Pick-up/Walk-up Registration: 6-7 a.m. at East Park.
  • Kids Fun Zone: 6-8:30 a.m.
  • Kids Fun Run Starts: 7 a.m.
  • 5K Starts: 7:30 a.m.
  • Awards: To Be Determined

The East Nashville Tomato Art Fest will follow the 5K race.

Awards

Overall awards will be based on gun time; Age Group awards will be based on chip time.

  • Overall Awards | Top 3: Male & Female
  • Age Group | Top 3: Male & Female in the following divisions: 
    • 5K | 9 & under to 70+ (grouped in 5-year increments)
  • Masters & Grand Masters
    • Masters (40+) | Top 3: Male & Female
    • Grand Masters (50+) | Top 3: Male & Female
    • Senior Grand Master (60+) | Top 3: Male & Female

You are allowed to claim a prize in only one category. All awards are given out within 30 minutes after the last eligible winner crosses the finish.

T-Shirts

Participants will receive a free t-shirt on a first-come, first-served basis. Sizes are not guaranteed. Those who register beginning Aug. 7 must pick up their shirt after their race.

Weather Policy

We expect our event to happen rain or shine. However, the safety of our participants is of great importance. In the event of adverse conditions (tornado warning, tornado watch, thunderstorm, heavy rain, or any other extreme weather conditions), the Race Director, in communication with the local law enforcement and the city, may delay the event, cancel the event, or make changes to the race course. Refunds will not be issued if the event is cancelled for adverse weather conditions.
