Benefitting Dorcas Ministries
Fit & Able is proud to announce a new race this year to help benefit Dorcas Ministries, one of our favorite local charities! With two new 3 Mile and 6 Mile race courses at Bond Park we hope you will join us to support Dorcas and the incredible work they do to help many in our community.
Their Story: In June of 1968 Margaret Keller brought together a small group to address a common concern: how to best serve our neighbors in need. From different races and denominations, they agreed to work together to help meet some of the needs of the Cary and Morrisville community. With backing from local churches, Dorcas Ministries was formed as “Christian Community in Action”. Dorcas Ministries has always and continues to strive to find solutions to the increasing and different needs of the community, hoping to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors.
Dorcas Ministries was named “Best Charity” of Western Wake by Cary Magazine.
In 2018, Dorcas Ministries was blessed with over 600 volunteers and had served an estimated 24,000 clients. We were thrilled to celebrate 50 years of serving our local community. As we approach the next 50 years, we are guided by the experience and wisdom of the last 50 years. Over the past decade, we have added tools and resources to help our clients become self-reliant while addressing immediate crises. We found that looking beyond the symptoms to root causes is a far more effective method than the band aid approach.
COMPASSION: We will show kindness and sensitivity to our neighbors, as an act of faith.
DIGNITY: We will respect the unique worth of each individual.
JUSTICE: We will strive to lift up the least among us.
STEWARDSHIP: We will use sound business practices to manage the resources entrusted to us.
Invite your friends and family to run together!
