Event Description

To provide relief to small businesses impacted by local COVID-19 orders, the City of St. Petersburg has created the Fighting Chance Fund – an emergency grant for St. Pete’s negatively impacted locally owned and independently operated small businesses.

The fund is expected to provide critical support to about 1,000 restaurant, bar, retail, and service-based businesses and their more than 3,000 eligible employees. The City's goal is to help offset the significant, temporary loss of revenue during this global pandemic.

The Leadership St. PeteⓇ Class of 2020 is dedicated to bringing awareness to and raising money towards the Fighting Chance Fund, and supporting the small businesses in our community.

The "Fighting Chance 5K" VIRTUAL race is your opportunity to give back to our community while staying safe and healthy.  Anyone around the world can participate in this event during the time frame of April 12 - May 2.  You can walk or run outside or on a treadmill to complete the distance. ALL proceeds from this event will go directly to the Fighting Chance Fund, to compete the 2020 Class Project - the Safe Connections Resource Center.  A custom medal and race bib are included in the race fee and will be mailed directly to your home.
