Event Description

Missing your typical motivation of gyms, PE class, athletic clubs, and after school sports? Join your camp fam in a virtual fundraiser race for Camp Abilities!
All fitness levels welcome- run, walk, or propel your wheelchair along with us.

25 Mile Challenge: Complete 25 miles in 5 weeks. 
50 Mile Challenge: Complete 50 miles in 5 weeks. 
Coach Eric's Ultra Challenge: Complete 150 miles in 5 weeks. 
Family Challenge: Complete 150 miles between a family of 4 or less in 5 weeks.

Challenge Rules:

  • Between April 5th and May 9th (5 weeks), run/ walk/ roll your chosen challenge.
  • Track your workout with an app on your phone or watch- walking, running, propelling a wheelchair, and treadmills all count!
    • If you don't have an app or watch that you already use, apps like Map My Run and Run Tracker offer free tracking tools.
    • If you are in an area that has you restricted to your house or if you have a visual impairment and do not have access to a guide runner, we will count daily steps for your challenge. Please let us know if this applies to you. 
  • Email us your report from your tracker app at the end of the challenge (we will email you a reminder to do this)

Prizes:

  • 25 mile challenge participants will receive a camp bandana for completion.
  • 50 mile challenge participants will receive a Believe You Can Achieve braille dryfit shirt for completion.
  • Coach Eric's Ultra Challenge participants will receive a camp bandana and a Believe You Can Achieve braille dryfit shirt for completion.
  • Family Challenge participants will receive a Believe You Can Achieve braille dryfit shirts for all entrants, up to 4. 
  • If you need us to mail you your shirts and live outside the USA or have many items coming to you, please consider adding a couple of dollars to help with shipping costs on the "donation" screen at the end of registration. Other options for shirt delivery is pick up from Maria (at WCU, camp, or BMRC) or at your Camp Abilities after the quarantines are lifted.  

Other Benefits:

  • Weekly optional Zoom meet up with other challenge participants for a virtual Care to Share.
  • Entrance into a challenge-specific Facebook group to share training tips.

All funds raised will go directly to supporting the Tether Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to providing physical activity and health education for individuals with visual impairments, including fundraising for Camp Abilities camps for youth with visual impairments in the Delaware/ Pennsylvania region.
