RACE INFORMATION

This is a totally Virtual Event

You can make this race your own!  Due to the limitations in response to the global pandemic, AND the fact that the Grosse Ile “Free Bridge” is closed til December, the Friends of Sims decided—screw it.  We will carry on the 18th Annual Simsonian 5K Kick-Off Classic virtually.

We are extending the window of competition from Saturday, August 15, 2020 to Saturday August 22, 2020.  You can use Race Joy as your GPS to run, walk, or crawl your 1 mile Fun Run, or race your 5K at your own place, your own pace, your own race.

The 18th Annual Simsonian is held in memory of beloved Grosse Ile High School teacher and coach, Steve Sims who died unexpectedly of a dissecting aortic aneurysm in 2003.  All proceeds from the race, virtual or not go to a scholarship given to an outstanding female scholar/athlete at GIHS.  More than $40,000 has been awarded throughout the race history.

Cost of registration is a flat fee of $30 for all ages and categories.  Register at runsignup.com.

Awards:  5K first male/female overall

Gold, Silver & Bronze- Male/Female age group

12 & under; 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 & over

Raffle Prizes to Registered Runners.

After registering, an email will be sent to you with all of the information you will need to upload your results and photos to see how you rank among the other racers. 

Your entry fee includes your race bib, coveted Simsonian 5K T-shirt, and covers all postage and handling, which will be mailed out the week of August 10, 2020.
